A message from Dr. Adam Hammond,

Minister to Students and their Families:

I am glad the Lord led you to this site! We are excited about what God is doing in our midst at First Baptist Belleview! First, a little bit about myself. I am married to Amber and have 5 children. I have a Bachelors of Arts in Theology from the Baptist College of Florida, a Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. I have been at the church since Jan. 2002.

Our youth and family ministry is strong in discipleship. We believe that making strong disciples is key to the future of not only our church, but all future kingdom endeavors. I am a disciple- maker at heart.

The role of any minister of the church is, according to Eph. 4:11-12 is to “equip the saints for the work of ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ.” This is indeed our goal and plan for almost everything we do as a ministry. According to the Bible, however, this is not the sole responsibility of the minister when it comes to children. The Bible says in  Deut.6:4-9, Psalm 78:4-7, Psalm 127:1-5, Prov.22:6, Eph. 6:1-4, Titus 2:1-8, etc. that the parent is to be the primary disciple maker in the life of the child.

With this in mind, the ministry does not seek to usurp this God-given role and responsibility of the parent. We design most of our events to be family friendly. We believe this provides a greater opportunity for dialogue between parent and student. These events include mission trips, Wednesday Night Worship time, apologetics conferences, Amazing Race, Didache ( a discipleship time held every Monday evening from 4-7pm), Student Leadership University, and Centrifuge to name a few.

We train our students and families with the end in mind. We expect them to share their faith and make disciples and do our best to see that our students are actively involved in this before they graduate.

Value Statements:

·        We value the true worship of Jesus through an active prayer life, the teaching of the Bible and the practice of evangelism/discipleship through local and global missions.

·        We value the Biblical meaning of the family. 1.  We see this carried out for boys through the encouragement of intentional mentorship of young men with their dads and/or caring men of faith. 2. We see this carried out for girls through the encouragement of intentional mentorship of young women with their moms and/or caring women of faith.

·        We value the community of believers through the formation of Godly relationships that result in the encouragement and edification of our youth and their families.
